Who's Your Neighbor?

If you ask a real estate professional what a neighborhood is, they will likely respond with something expressed along the lines “any grouping of residential dwelling units that are of the same size and value”.  That’s partially true.  If you consult the Merriam-Webster Dictionary, they will offer you several definitions beginning with “…the quality or state of being neighbors”.  You’d have to read on to the fourth definition in the dictionary to find the true nature of what being and having a neighbor is:  “The people living near one another”.

Technology, long working hours, cell phones, text messages, the Internet, and the hiring of lawn maintenance workers have all contributed to how well we know our neighbors.  Some people simply know them to “say hello to”.  Others, of course help and share their lives with their neighbors.

Who’s your neighbor?  Anyone around you!  Helping a neighbor in the time of need is something that has many benefits for everyone.  It forges relationships and builds a strong bond between people.
