About the Town of Niskayuna, New York
The Town of Niskayuna is found in the southeast part of Schenectady County with a population of over 22,000 people.
The Town of Niskayuna is principally served by the Niskayuna Central School District which has four elementary schools, two middle schools and one high school.
A portion of the Town of Niskayuna is served by the South Colonie Central School District which has five elementary schools, two middle schools and one high school.
Since 1980, the Town of Niskayuna has presented an annual parade called "Niska-Day" which is celebrated on the third Saturday in May. The festival includes an early morning family foot race, followed by a parade and community fair. The annual event concludes at dusk with a fireworks display.
Additionally, the Town of Niskayuna maintains several community parks found throughout the town and a hike and bike trail. The Town of Niskayuna also has a swimming pool and regularly features Town of Niskayuna Band concerts, summer theater events, a summer enrichment program and a Learn-to-Swim program. For those who wish to remain on dry land and sand traps, the Town of Niskayuna offers golf lessons.
