About the Hamlet of Latham, New York
The Hamlet of Latham, New York, is found on the northern perimeter of the Town of Colonie in Albany County. The population in Latham is approximately 21,000 people. Latham itself is relatively narrow running east-west and relatively long north and south. It is centered on the intersection of Troy-Schenectady Road and Old Loudon Road. Latham is serviced by the North Colonie Central School District with five elementary schools, one middle school and one high school. The district roughly covers the communities inside of Latham including Loudonville and parts of the City of Cohoes.
The Town of Colonie has 11 pocket or neighborhood parks and, larger parks such as the new Mohawk Riverside Landing Park located on River Road and The Crossings of Colonie park located on Albany Shaker Road. There are many recreational offerings found throughout the year. Additionally, the town operates the Colonie Town Library and Colonie Town Golf Course.
