About the Town of Colonie, New York​​​​​​​

The Town of Colonie is a suburban community located in Albany County.  It has a population of approximately 83,000 people.  


The town is principally served by the South Colonie Central School District.  This school district has five elementary schools, two middle schools and one high school. 


 A small portion of the Town of Colonie is served by the Niskayuna Central School District which has four elementary schools, two middle schools and one high school.


The Town of Colonie operates and maintains over 850 acres of property.  The Town of Colonie has 11 pocket or neighborhood parks and, larger parks such as The Crossings of Colonie park located on Albany Shaker Road.  There are many recreational offerings found throughout the year.  Additionally, the town operates the Colonie Town Library and the 36 hole Colonie Town Golf Course.
