What has not changed during the time I have actively practiced real estate is the basic human need and a desire for guidance and informed counsel given by an experienced and knowledgeable real estate professional.
The training, experience and skill necessary to deftly interpret all the information available today and place that information within a digestible context is considerable and cannot be understated. It is one of the chief responsibilities of an experienced and competent real estate professional.
Taking everything into account, the one crucial element that has changed since 1985: With the depth and breadth of information available to us all today, combined with the ever-increasing complexity of a real estate transaction, the basic human need for guidance and competent counsel has only increased during the last 40 years.
Could the introduction and proliferation of artificial intelligence or “AI” meaningfully impact the role of a real estate professional? God only knows. One day, perhaps. Yet, that day is not today.
